What we owe the businesses that run on us

No clients, no projects — businesses run their Saturdays on our systems. The three promises that come with that, and what each one costs us.

Nobody hires us. There is no brief, no invoice for hours, no handover at the end — a business signs up, puts its box office on Ticketova or its till on Januna, and pays monthly for a system its Saturday depends on. That flips who owes what: a studio owes its client a deliverable; we owe our tenants a running system. So instead of adjectives, here are three commitments with a price attached — because a promise that costs the promiser nothing is marketing.

The system holds on the day the money happens#

A ticketing system earns its keep in the twenty minutes after the doors open; a till earns it on Saturday afternoon. Those are exactly the moments the venue wifi is at its worst, which is why Januna treats offline as the normal case: every terminal completes a full sale with no internet and no peers, and syncing is what happens afterwards, not what a sale waits for.

When it breaksWhat your staff see
The wifi dies mid-rushThe till finishes the sale and reconciles when the network returns
One terminal gives upThe others carry the shop — each till owns its own sales
We ship something badWe find out first: we run the infrastructure and carry the pager

What it costs us: the roadmap. Carrying operations means a slower feature cadence and an on-call rota that has to survive holidays — the full bill is written up in why we run our own infrastructure.

Your data, and a door that opens#

Multi-tenant means your sales, your customers and your events live in our database — which is exactly why they cannot be treated as ours. The test we hold ourselves to: leaving has to be a decision, never a project.

  • Everything you put in comes back out, in formats another system can read — not a proprietary dump.
  • No exit fee, no notice period designed to hurt, no data held back until a last invoice clears.
  • If you move to a competitor, we answer their import questions. Grudgingly, perhaps — but we answer.
  • When you close your account, the data goes with it. Gone means gone, not archived against a rainy day.

What it costs us: it is a genuine business risk to make ourselves this easy to leave. We think a tenant who can walk out and doesn't is worth more than one who is locked in.

Bad news arrives from us, first#

When something breaks — an outage, a sync bug, a wrong number on a report — the tenants it touched hear it from us, in plain language, in the week it happened: what broke, who was affected, and what changes so it stays fixed. Not a status page nobody was told to watch, and never a euphemism in a changelog.

What it costs us: the write-ups make us look worse than silence would, and occasionally an honest incident note walks into a renewal conversation. Silence would cost more — the whole model stands on tenants trusting us with the till.
